Literature Text

And from the clouds I climbed down
To the greens below
Where children stood under trees
Singing tunes only known to birds

I sat there, under the weeping willow
Wishing the sun upon my back
Gazing to the golden fields
Eager for the touch of daffodils

Crimson winds blow at my whiskers
Egging them on in unwanted directions
Unclothed flesh rubs along coarse stone; I rise
Aching bones fighting my will

The Willow begs me to stay
It's long arms grasping for me
"I must go forth" I say
The Willow unwinds its soft fingers

I touch the tops of the daffodils
Letting it's pollen create fury within my palm
The children's song is heard from behind me
Is what we perceive, reality?

When I could no longer stand
I let the daffodils surround my body
I let them take me
And I climb back up to the clouds.
Nature Poem inspired by Wordsworth's "I wandered lonely as a cloud." :)
