Important notice about account security
There was recently an incident on another website, completely unrelated to deviantART.com, that resulted in account email addresses and passwords for that site being leaked online. While the information was not deviantART-related, your deviantART account may be at risk if you use the same email address and password for multiple sites.
To protect your deviantART account, we strongly suggest that you change your password.
When updating a password, create one that is complex and unique, making it impossible for would-be intruders to identify it, whether by educated guess or calculated attack.

Found Poetry: How-To #1: Erasure
Huzzah! The Workshop has begun!
So, you did some reading, right? RIGHT? And you've got your erasure tools ready? White out, sharpie, Photoshop? Or maybe you're just going to type up the words in order, cutting out what you don't need. That's cool, too. As long as you're ready to get erasing.
To catch up, here's what you already know about Erasure:Erasure poetry (sometimes called blackout or whiteout) is created when the author literally erases certain words of a source text, leaving the remaining words and phrases to create something new. You can do this visually, with editing software on your computer or with a sharpie or White-Out on a boo

:devMadhattersSociety:: Childhood Fears Contest!
The new contest is as much of a challenge as it is a contest. The theme is "Childhood Fears." Was it the sound of a train in the night, before you knew what trains were? A shadow on the wall at a certain time of day? Something from a movie that you were too young to see? Maybe even a children's story that spooked you; the Brothers Grimm were pretty grim.
The idea is to represent that fear in your chosen field of art/literature. The more edgy, off-balance, and surreal it is, the better the chance of winning. The contest will run through January first, 2015, so you'll have plenty of time. Don't procrastinate, though, get to creating!

A new piece of Chuck for the haters by raspil, journal
A new piece of Chuck for the haters
This is some genius-level info here, regardless of writing level, please read it. It applies to you.
“Those writers you think are masters of the craft aren’t created that way. They aren’t supernaturally capable ninja writer-bots. When you read the work of a writer operating at the top of her game, you’re not seeing all the years of failed efforts, of work that wasn’t quite right, of work that was well-intentioned or built off of strong ideas but had slick and wobbly legs like a newborn fawn.
You see the author operating at a high level and you wonder: why am I not doing that?
The reality is:

[EDIT]
I've seen the latest journal, and it doesn't pacify me in the least. I believe LadyBrookeCelebwen (https://www.deviantart.com/ladybrookecelebwen) summed up my opinions best before I got the chance:
The decision on what to do with the points shouldn't be made by you. The people who donated the points donated them to DLD, and looking through the people in the widget, many of them are the same people that are outright furious at all of this. Hand over the group, let the points sit (but that would a shame), give them to the people most of us associate with DLD - which would be the admins that have been active and posting the journals, giving the features, etc - if they start a ne
